Carnew Training & Development Centre

Carnew Training & Development Centre facilitates a self-help culture so that people in marginalised circumstances can improve their social and economic lives by accessing training and services as a means of empowerment. It stimulates the local economy by providing services to small enterprises such as our Small Business Support Service. Carnew Training & Development Centre also offers a Community Information Service similar to Citizens Advice as Carnew does not have access to this service. We run programmes that build human capital through needs generated training. These programmes cover a range of demographics from young people to senior citizens. Our Benefit 4 programme is free, with a core objective to reach the harder to reach groups such as the unemployed, older people and the disadvantaged. All our courses, if not free, are affordable to our target groups and we endeavour to ensure that affordability it maintained. We run courses on a breakeven basis, if they benefit our target group, especially improving their employability. Training courses range from basic to advanced computer skills as well as vocational skills such as Manual Handling or First Aid. We also offer hard skilled courses such as Chainsaw Safety, Pesticide Safety and many more. We are conscious that time is very precious so we make every effort to deliver our courses at times and durations that are convenient to you. Courses can be tailor made to suit individuals or small groups for organisations needs. Courses run daytime or evenings and can run for a few weeks to a few months. Our class sizes are small: between 5 and 10, allowing tutors more time for addressing individual needs. The centre delivers courses accredited by QQI, ICS, Microsoft, Lantra and City & Guilds. We are also recognised by the Environmental Health Officers Association and the Health & Safety Authority.
