The name "Cartesian" is derived from the French philosopher and mathematician, René Descartes, who is accredited with saying: “I think, therefore I am”; and whose mathematical legacy is the Cartesian or analytical geometry (using x, y&z as unknowns and a, b&c as the knowns); also pioneering superscript as powers of exponents (example: x4) and for pioneering the Cartesian coordinates, which specifies each point on a plane, for example: x-y-intercept =(0,0).
