Established in 1985 as Strands, in the company changed its name to Caruh, derived from the ancient language of Sanskrit, meaning lovely, beautiful, and joyous. Originally located on Capitol Hill in Seattle, Caruh moved to its present location in the Roosevelt neighborhood in 1989. Today, Caruh is poised to be an industry leader in redefining beauty and the role of beauty professionals based on the book “Changing the Way the World Thinks About Beauty” written by the owner, Cynthia DeSoto. Caruh's vision is to provide products, services and information for people to rejuvenate their spirit and learn to create the best expression of themselves – both in the way they present themselves to the outside world and in the way that they feel about themselves.
