Cassonade

Cassonade is a community driven experiment in generosity. A restaurant where your meal was already paid for by another person and you are invited to pay for someone else. A restaurant operating according to the principles of the so-called gift economy, an alternative economic model where transaction is replaced by trust, consumption by contribution, the fear of scarcity by the celebration of abundance and self-oriented isolation by shared commitment. The founders and the volunteers of Cassonade are driven by the belief that the absence of prices and the cycle of giving creates connections between the participants and unveals universal values like generosity, trust, sharing and gratitude. Ultimately these shared values help to create a sense of community and a sense of belonging within the hyperdiversity of Brussels.
