Castor Optics
Castor is a team passionate about bringing innovative fiber solutions to their customer to solve their engineering challenges. Gathering innovators, engineers, scientists, and fiber optics experts, we leverage our understanding of guided optics fundamentals to develop solutions tailored to specific applications. Based in Montreal, Canada, Castor was founded by Polytechnique’s Professors Caroline Boudoux and Nicolas Godbout, along with Normand Brais and Alex Cable. Castor embodies the success of technology transfer from a university lab to the market. Since 2013, it has been a key strategic partner of Thorlabs, developing first-to-market technologies such as the double-clad fiber coupler, the multimode circulator, and the ultra-short photonic lantern. All our products are developed and manufactured in Canada. We strive to innovate and valorize new technology to provide a stimulating work environment to contribute to talent retention in Quebec.
