Catofoods is a fast-growing social enterprise that is addressing malnutrition and hidden hunger, especially in children under 5 years and pregnant women in Nigeria using our staple crops which have been biofortified as a cost-effective way to reduce infant mortality, stunted growth, the impaired vision among children and reduce maternal death. We leveraging on innovative technology to provide a sustainable solution to nutrition challenges. We are presently in the business of addressing malnutrition, especially Vitamin A micronutrient deficiency, especially in children under 5 years and pregnant women. This is because about 33% of children under the age of 5 years are Vitamin A deficient which tends to affect their eyesight, growth, and brain development and 1 in 5 of these children die from malnutrition-related disease every day, so also 1 in 13 pregnant women die every day due to malnutrition issue, especially Vitamin A micronutrients. We operate a hybrid model of business, where we also advocate malnutrition. At the end of every business year, 5% of our profit goes into community services. We innovate new products and manufacture and distribute them to our customers in Nigeria and International Market. These products are available, accessible, and affordable Biotechnologylogy system stems to produce nutritious food products that are naturally rich in micronutrients especially Vitamin A because we believe agriculture and health have to meet at a point which is called NUTRITION. Hence, we constantly give ourselves to research and knowledge. we also empower rural women and youths in the communities we operate thereby creating employment for them to increase their livelihood and that of their families because they are critical to food nutrition.
