Cbb Belgian Beet Growers

The CBB (Confederation of Belgian Beet Growers) was founded in 1965 and is the official and professional organization for about 7,500 beet growers. The CBB represents and defends the professional interests of sugar beet growers at local, regional and national level in Belgium and internationally via CIBE (International Confederation of European Beet Growers) and WABCG (World Association of Sugarbeet and Cane Growers). In Belgium, the CBB coordinates the operation of 4 regional growers' associations: Federation des Betteraviers Wallon RT asbl; Coördinatiecomité van Vlaanderen vzw; Verbond Vlaamse Suikerbietplanters Tiense vzw; Comité de Coordination des planteurs de betteraves du Hainaut- Iscal asbl. The CBB acts as much as possible in consultation with general agricultural associations such as the FWA (Walloon Federation of Agriculture), Boerenbond and ABS (Algemeen Boerensyndicaat). The main tasks of the CBB are: representation; advocacy; the coordination of interprofessional agreements for the sector; the coordination of regional bodies; the organization of the control of the reception of beet in the factories; the dissemination of information via "Le Betteravier", the website promoting R&D (research and development) in the sector by contributing to IRBAB (Royal Belgian Institute for the Improvement of Beet); management of the financial participation of sugar beet growers in their sugar companies via SOPABE scrl and SOPABE-T scrl
