Central Coast Dbt

Central Coast DBT is a psychology practice providing comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to adolescents and young adults in Santa Barbara County and surrounding areas. DBT treats frequent, intense emotions that are difficult to change and seem to ‘take over’ your actions and your choices when they occur. A lot of the time, these behaviors are an attempt to get relief from the painfully intense emotions, but they also cause life problems, especially by damaging important relationships. DBT helps clients learn and use effective strategies for regulating emotions and changing the way they cope with them, allowing them to achieve balance and be more effective and successful in life. We specialize in treating adolescents and adults who struggle with emotion dysregulation (poor control of emotions) and impulsive behaviors that often result in harmful long-term consequences, particularly behaviors such as suicidal ideation, self-harm and intense aggression. We specialize in treating disorders that often feature emotion dysregulation and impulsivity such as depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, DMDD, PTSD, and Borderline Personality Disorder. We offer DBT programs for both adults and adolescents (13-18) to include weekly individual therapy, DBT skills training groups, phone coaching between sessions and family therapy for our adolescent clients. Partners Dr. Jen Bailey and Dr. Angela Vigna are clinical psychologists licensed in the state of California and intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
