The Centrale Électrique du Congo S.A.(CEC) is a joint-stock company, with 80% of its share capital held by the Republic of Congo and 20% by Eni Congo S.A.U, a subsidiary of Eni S.p.A. It was established in line with the vision of His Excellency Denis SASSOU NGUESSO, President of the Republic and Head of State, to equip the country with reliable energy infrastructure. As a result of a public-private partnership with Eni Congo, CEC has been the leading independent power producer since 2010 and owns the Côte-Matève power plant, located approximately 15 km from Pointe-Noire. Equipped with three open-cycle gas turbines for a total installed capacity of 484 MW—with a potential expansion to 950 MW—it supplies more than 70% of the country’s electricity demand. The power plant is distinguished by its high reliability, exceeding 98%, thanks to careful management of its machines and strict adherence to scheduled maintenance activities, in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. CEC is thus a strategic tool for the country's development and growth. It also represents an opportunity for the development of new industries that will create jobs for Congolese youth.
