Centre For Applied Systems Analysis

We are a knowledge and learning Centre established in 2016 in Malawi. We work with local and global partners to anchor better preservation, restoration, and regeneration of Malawi’s natural resource base and its diverse ecosystems. Our mission is to build restoration community where restoration actions on the landscape are informed by the best available knowledge. Our intervention areas include- Using GLFx Lilongwe we connect people preserving and restoring Malawi's natural resource base - We offer restoration education to practitioners to effectively restore the degraded landscapes - We offer scholarly analysis to effectively design, implement, and monitor restoration action - We facilitate on-ground landscape restoration actions. Our Accomplishments: 1. We host a Lilongwe Chapter of the Global Landscapes Forum (GLFx Lilongwe), which works to accelerate action towards more sustainable, integrated landscape management. In collaboration with IUFRO’s SPDC, we developed capacity of 50 landscape restoration practitioners in Malawi 3. In collaboration with the Lilongwe City Council, we are restoring the degraded riverine of Lingadzi River in Lilongwe 4. With support from IUCN, we reviewed and developed a roadmap for harmonization of policies and laws that can support forest landscape restoration in Malawi. Our Capacity: 1. We have a lean secretariat with a highly trained and experienced management team composed of the Executive Director, the Programmes Manager, and Finance and Administration Manager. The Projects and Service staff support the management team in programme delivery. Our annual budget is over MWK100 million.
