Founded in 2020, Mamik is a community organization that represents and supports its urban Indegenous population in a culturally safe service offer, in collaboration with communities, local Indigenous organizations and various partners. Mamik advocates for the rights and interests of urban Indigenous people in order to improve their living conditions by promoting access to adequate and affordable housing; to culturally relevant 1st and 2nd line services as well as to improve their economic conditions by focusing on education and graduation. Mamik means « in town » in Atikamekw language.
