CFES originated as a network of civil society organizations committed to empowering Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC) to sustainably manage their natural forest resources. CFES has developed proven mechanisms to meet the needs of indigenous peoples and local communities, as well as the public and private sectors, in fulfilling their commitments to social, biodiversity, and climate goals. The proven CFES mechanisms build on experience and are designed to achieve excellence in forest management by local communities and indigenous peoples. CFES is committed to promoting Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) and multi-stakeholder collaboration. We provide tailor-made solutions, including Performance-Based Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES), Community Mentoring, Institutional Capacity Building, and Program Governance.
