MISSION STATEMENT CHADWIC Home Inc. is a non-profit, community-based organization representing North Algoma, Chapleau, all First Nations and all communities within that geographical area. CHADWIC Home Inc. is dedicated to the eradication of all forms of violence and abuse against women and children by providing shelter and supportive services to women, age 16 and over and their children. STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY We believe that it is a basic human right to live without the fear of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. We believe that it is a basic human right to live without the destructive forces of sexism, racism, oppression and poverty. We are committed to working towards creating a society that respects and upholds these rights. AIMS & OBJECTIVES To provide a safe and secure refuge to women in crisis and their children which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; To recognize the strength of each woman and offer a supportive, non-judgemental service in order that a woman may make decisions for herself; To recognize the specific and distinct needs of children from abusive environments, and offer programs and services designed to support these children; To provide supportive counselling so that a woman may gain perspective on her situation and can consider alternatives and options; To provide Outreach services for the communities within our catchment area; To provide public education and awareness to the communities that we serve on the dynamics of woman abuse; To promote and participate in community efforts to eliminate violence against women; To provide all services in a non-partisan, non-sectarian, and non-judgmental manner.
