CHAKO is a social enterprise based on the island of Zanzibar, transforming discarded materials into beautiful, high-quality products through circular design and local craftsmanship. Our mission is to build a cleaner, more sustainable future by creating opportunities — especially for women and youth — through upcycling, training, and creative production. With a dedicated team of artisans and changemakers, we work closely with hotels, restaurants, and tour operators to offer tailored interior and tableware solutions that combine design, functionality, and environmental responsibility. Our products are not only handmade and durable, but they also carry a story of community empowerment and sustainability. CHAKO is more than a product brand. We are a movement for change, driven by the belief that waste can become a resource, and that sustainable business should uplift people and protect the environment.
