Chambers, Bunny & Steer

The founding member, Miss Daisy Chambers, is the first woman to have been admitted to the practice of law in Jamaica. In 1956, Miss Chambers set up her own practice and later partnered with Mrs. Hazel Steer Bunny in 1964 to form the law firm, Chambers and Bunny. Chambers and Bunny was the first law firm to be started by a woman and continued for many years to be the only partnership of women in the legal profession. Although proficient in other areas of the law, Chambers and Bunny enjoyed the reputation of having the largest matrimonial causes practice in Jamaica. In 1971, The firm became Chambers, Bunny & Steer after Mr. Gordon Steer, who was articled to Miss Chambers, became a qualified Solicitor and joined the firm. Chambers, Bunny & Steer, though highly proficient in other areas of the law, continue to hold true to its reputation of having one of, if not the largest, matrimonial causes practice in Jamaica and the firm's name continues to be synonymous with the efficient and fair resolution of matrimonial and family disputes.
