In September 2011, eVestment acquired Channel Capital Group, owners of HedgeFund.net (HFN), a leading source for hedge fund data, research and news. The combined company now provides a single, global database serving institutional investment professionals who focus on either alternative or traditional investments, as well as “hybrid” investors who seek solutions to help them select and manage investments across both investment categories. eVestment has combined the former Hedgefund.net (HFN) database with our own non-traditional data to create the eVestment alternatives and hedge fund database, the industry's largest and most complete dataset. HedgeFund.net founded in 1997 was dedicated to providing accredited investors with access to data, research, news and informative content on hedge funds.++ Channel Capital Group LLC was the broker-dealer owned by Channel Capital Group Inc.(the owner and operator of HedgeFund.net). Channel Capital Group LLC provided valuable services to both hedge fund managers and institutional investors. For hedge fund managers, Channel Capital Group LLC facilitated qualified introductions to institutional investors. Also for select managers, Channel Capital Group LLC had provided full capital raising services. On behalf of institutional investors, Channel Capital Group LLC had assisted these investors in the hedge fund allocation process. Frequent conference calls and events provided a unique forum for institutional investors to explore specific hedge funds which may have fit into their allocation requirements.
