Chesapeake Baysavers

Chesapeake BaySavers is an Annapolis-based environmental nonprofit with a mission is to restore the health of the Chesapeake Bay for future generations through legislation, environmental education, community outreach, and hands-on restoration work. Chesapeake BaySavers is dedicated to restoring all of the Bay’s natural resources and believes one key way to rebuild the Bay’s health is to revitalize its population of oysters, a species known for its water filtering capabilities. Chesapeake BaySavers encourages a diverse population of Marylanders to become stewards of a healthy Chesapeake Bay! The cause behind the BaySavers inception is rooted in a personal experience. After Evan Thalenberg's, the President and Co-Founder, eldest daughter became pregnant with her first child she went to her physician who advised her that, although she was healthy, not to swim in the Chesapeake Bay as it could jeopardize her pregnancy. It was from this discovery that Chesapeake BaySavers was born. It's unacceptable to leave our children and grandchildren with a toxic pond in place of a vibrant healthy Chesapeake Bay. That is why the Chesapeake BaySavers are dedicated to restoring the health of the Bay for future generations.
