Chicago Warriors

The Chicago Warriors was founded in 2015 under the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois and through USA Hockey and is a program for disabled US Veterans who were wounded in service to their country. Our program gives disabled veterans an opportunity to play hockey in an environment that is suited to their specific needs, abilities, and skill levels. No prior experience is required, and the program is provided at no cost to our veterans. Our program is run 100% on donations and fundraising through our team, volunteers, and generous sponsors. We serve veterans of all ages and with a large array of disabilities, both visible and invisible. We strive to create a safe and comfortable environment. Our program gives veterans an opportunity to regain a sense of camaraderie with a group of their peers, while giving our veterans the opportunity to participate in structured, meaningful physical and mental recreational therapy and rehabilitation. The cost for all training, ice time, uniforms, games, tournaments, coaching, and travel is covered by our organization. Our team does not belong to any leagues or competitive tournaments locally but do regularly participate in scrimmages and fundraising games. Our team also plays against other Warrior teams, and competes in national Warrior tournaments, against other disabled veteran teams, annually.
