The Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT) is a centre established under Strathmore Law School. Our mission is to study, create, and share knowledge on the legal and policy dimensions of intellectual property, information technology, and emerging technologies. We focus on how these fields shape innovation, governance, human rights, and sustainable development in Africa. Over the years, CIPIT has positioned itself as a thought leader in the evolving fields of law, technology, and innovation across Africa. We conduct evidence-based research on issues at the intersection of law, technology, and innovation in Africa. Our work spans across key thematic areas, including Intellectual Property, Artificial Intelligence, Data Governance and Policy, Cyber Law and Policy, and Digital Identity. We are guided by excellence through ethical practice, partnerships with impact, and integrity in our work.
