Established in 1991 by Graham Southey on the premises of Shroff & Sons in Hobson Street, City Power Tools has always existed to serve the many and varied power tool needs of Auckland’s tradespeople. With Graham’s extensive industry experience from the early days of Electrical Tool Servicing, he and shortly afterwards, Jimmy, grew the business into the go-to power tool sales and repairs store in Auckland. The move to the present site in Quay Street in 2007, allowed the team and the showroom to grow. In 2018, Raj and Anita took over the business after Raj stepped out of the Consulting Engineering Industry in which he started as a Mechanical Engineer and advanced to Senior Management responsible for the Environmental Water Engineering Business Unit. Being under new management allowed our repair team to focus solely on their service offering, and allowed Graham to retire after over 50 years in the industry. With the current teams combined 70+ years experience with power tools and motors, and Raj’s commitment to not rest until you have been equipped with the right tool to meet your purpose, City Power Tools are well positioned to take care of the needs of all tradespeople as well as the serious DIYer. And because we repair and service all power tools, we are able to give good advice on your purchase. The team at City Power Tools are constantly striving to find better, more efficient ways to limit tool downtime for the trade. To do this, we need to explore asset management techniques, alternative investment and funding structures, and physical workflow patterns. We are also continually improving our showroom offering as well as business processes. What we won’t be changing is our focus on you, the customer, and our relentless drive to be the power tool experts of choice.
