City Schoolhouse

Our Mission: City Schoolhouse works to restore dignity to children and families by empowering them through active and individualized education, fostering a love of learning, and renewing their community through its people. Our Vision: Building families and communities where boundless learning is walkable. City Schoolhouse is a neighborhood microschool where students come from a walking distance away to learn academic, social, and practical life skills. Class sizes range from 10-15 students with two teachers. We teach in developmental age groups and our teaching is inspired by successful Montessori teaching techniques as well as other best practices for hands on learning. We incorporate day to day practical living skills that our students often do not learn at home in our daily curriculum. We want all our students to be in a place where, despite their circumstances, they are treasured - a place where they know they are created by God for a purpose. Impact: We are unique because we are not just there for the student, but also for their family and community. We bring the families into the class and allow them learning and growing opportunities as well.We are teaching our students the importance of kindness, respect, and responsibility to themselves and their neighbors that is lost on so many of us today. Over time, the ripple effects of bringing people together to develop these individuals, the buildings around them, and the neighborhoods they fill, can bring light to an entire city for generations How much: We are a "pay what you can" school - what you can't pay in treasure you contribute in time or talent to support the school community.
