We believe “Interactive Entertainment” is a driving force of innovation in hardware, software, and media as the demand for innovative and intuitive experiences pushes the boundaries of existing technology. The proliferation of connected devices and mass digital media consumption has established a base of ‘always-on’ consumers who engage in mobile games, social media, immersive experiences, and e-commerce. The democratization of tools and technology, paired with open digital platforms, can further enable the creation and distribution of better, cheaper, and more diverse IE. Moreover, new technology, including edge computing, machine learning, XR, avatars, and blockchain, will continue to drive the industry’s growth well into the future. These new technologies created by our desire for social engagement and entertainment are often extremely well suited for industries outside of IE, including healthcare and education. We, therefore, see the crossover of these technologies into these secondary markets, in addition to their primary use cases, as a key component to the untapped value in IE today and an important valuation driver as we evaluate market opportunities in the IE sector.
