CMTUK (Charcot Marie Tooth UK) is the UK's charity for people living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT). CMT is a hereditary, progressive, neurological condition of the peripheral nervous system. In the UK it is thought to affect people and it is the most common inherited neurological disease. CMT causes disability as the muscles in the foot, lower leg, hand and forearm waste which affects walking, difficulties with hand functions, balance and loss of reflexes. As a result causes pain, fatigue and in severe cases breathing problems. There is currently no cure.
