Co-Art Studio

An inclusive art studio bringing together local artists to provide opportunities for emerging and established artists to collaborate, develop and grow. Co-art Studio provides a person-centred support service for people with intellectual disability to develop artistic skills and career-building in the visual art areas, including painting, printing, ceramics, sculpture, creative art, and digital art. Co-art Studio promotes two key aspects: collaboration & connection between artists with and without disability to grow together in art and creativity. It aims to create an environment which opens doors and provides opportunities to those with disabilities, both as a form of recreation and leisure, and in developing emerging and established artists in a universally designed space. An inclusive art studio refers to a sustained creative environment that fosters and supports the individual practice of visual artists with disability. Supported studios facilitate professional development and career-building for artists with and without cognitive disability through technical, artistic support, promotion in the marketplace to networks and audiences outside the disability sector and a commitment to producing and presenting work of high artistic quality. Co-art provides opportunities through a studio residency program, mentorship program, workshop schedule and artist agency program, boasting local acclaimed artists working in a variety of mediums.
