Code 4 Fire Watch

A fire watch is a periodic physical inspection of a building for fires or fire hazards. Fire watch is required when a building’s fire alarm, sprinkler, or other fire suppression system is off-line. This is a requirement of the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code. Fire watch personnel conduct inspections by walking through the entire building or area. They look for evidence of fire, smoke, or other fire hazards. Fire watch is also required during any kind of business activity that includes high temperatures or an elevated risk of fires. This includes construction, demolition, and many industrial activities.
