Today’s young people are experiencing an epidemic of sex, drugs/alcohol, violence and suicide. In a Code Blue Media Awareness Presentation we will examine the influences that are contributing to this epidemic. We’ll examine today’s top music groups, movies, video games, websites and television. We will expose the lies the media is selling. We will educate young people, their parents and those who influence them, and empower them to make wise choices. We will cover the entire music spectrum. We don't burn cd's and play records backwards but we do want young people to recognize the lies and the danger of allowing the media to influence and de-sensitize them. The average student spends eight hours a day plugged into media. Most students today spend more time listening to and watching graphic sex, rape, sodomy, murder, violence suicide and pornographic images in the media than they do in the classroom. The question is, who is really educating our students and what are they teaching them? Is it really just harmless entertainment? We strive for a balanced approach knowing that not everyone will be influenced to have sex, be violent with someone or commit suicide, but that they will be affected in other ways, and are being desensitized to graphic sex, obscenity, and violence at the least.
