Columbi Salmon aims to develop Europe’s leading sustainable salmon farming company, with improved animal welfare and minimal environmental footprint. Columbi Salmon was founded by Norwegian salmon industry insiders who saw a clear path to salmon production with an improved environmental footprint. The Refsnes fish farming family is the main owner of Columbi Salmon. When faced with the option of becoming the first Norwegian family company to move salmon farming onshore, or continuing to invest in ocean production, the Refsnes family chose innovation. Now, Columbi Salmon is on the path to produce tonnes of sustainable food by 2023-24, while contributing to create jobs and secure a good life in the globe-spanning communities in which we are present. We are starting by establishing a land-based setup for salmon farming in Oostende, Belgium, and will over the coming years establish further production facilities throughout Europe.
