Compost Education Centre

The Compost Education Centre (CEC) is a non-profit organization with charitable status providing composting, waste diversion, and ecological gardening education to CRD residents. The CEC’s year-round educational programming spans a wide range of topics, some of the most popular including worm composting, how to plant an organic vegetable garden, and soil ecology. We host weekly public workshops both in-person and virtually, visit school sites to teach students to grow food, maintain a demonstration garden and lending library, and participate in outreach events in the community (plus stock a bountiful farm stand in the summer!) We have something for everyone, so be sure to check out our upcoming 2023 public workshop schedule which boasts many affordable and free offerings with a number of expert guest instructors. You can also reach out to book a private workshop for your curious childcare or school groups, sure to wow with our experiential teaching style that lets participants smell, touch, and observe actively in the session.
