We plant trees on contour. Contour Lines. Restoring ecosystems, cultivating food systems. One foot at a time. Our community-based reforestation model scales impacts with minimal costs. Our strategies are simple: Transition land from slash-and-burn chemical monocultures to regenerative agroforestry on Contour. Empower smallholder famers with the trees, tools and training needed to make this transition. Avoid paternalism and only work with the most dedicated families and communities. Incentivize the long-term commitment to this transition through parallel initiatives like post-harvest marketing, planting short-term annual crops, and continual follow-up visits for training, monitoring and data-collection. To date, we have planted 4.2 million trees. Our fruit trees have a survival rate in the upper ninety percentile, a figure rare in most reforestation projects. We achieve our results through empowering and educating indigenous and underserved populations. Currently, we are working with over 17.1k projects in 490 communities.
