Coop Media

About Coop was founded over conversations in coffee shops and bars, cafes and community centres. In Vancouver, Beijing, San Francisco and Nuuk, the vision for Coop was developed frame by frame throughout 2016, influenced by the needs, struggles and passions of filmmakers, photographers and media entrepreneurs. What is Coop? We are a media production co-operative- a community of original content creators. We house a vast collection of skills and talent, capable of bringing the most incredible stories to life. We work in multiple languages; we traverse geographical, cultural and political borders; we wholeheartedly embrace unabashed authenticity. Inspired by old artists’ co-operatives, Coop is run for any by its members. Members match up necessary skills and work together to form teams. These teams then undertake any project that comes our way, be it a commissioned piece, independent film or series, from the most remote wilderness to the largest cities on this planet. Our goal is ultimately to pursue a world without limits. At the same time, Coop allows members to learn from each other to gain new skills and experiences through workshops, instructional material development, mentorship and dynamic team building. Goals We aspire to build a network of trust amongst content creators from across the world, put linguistic and cultural barriers aside, and increase access to more skills, locations and opportunities for all members. We aspire to create educational resources, instructional videos, workshops and skills training opportunities for members made by members to increase capacity. We aspire to become both a top funnel for attracting commissions and media buyers as well as a base for allowing content creators to work together, build teams and develop original projects.
