Corbitt Manufacturing was founded in 1964 and the corporate office is based in the heart of Tidewater Red Cypress country. The business began as a primary manufacturer of specialty cypress lumber, beams, shingles, and shakes. Restoration projects were our specialty and our cypress shakes and shingles have been specified on numerous restoration projects all over the country including: The Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities, Bacon's Castle in Surry, Virginia, The Rising Sun Tavern in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and numerous buildings in Williamsburg, Virginia. Cypress Shingles manufactured by Corbitt are on the Appomattox Courthouse where General Lee surrendered to General Grant and on summer cottages once owned by such notables as the Rockefeller's, Carnegie's, and the Vanderbilt's. We supplied huge cypress beams for the complete reconstruction of Lake Erie - Michigan Canal Lock System. In addition, we were chosen to supply lumber that went into the construction of the space shuttle. In the past 25 years, our product has migrated to the Lawn and Garden side, specifically; ground cover mulches. Over these years, in an effort to perfect our manufacturing process, we created a unique product, one which had properties unlike any other mulch in the market. And, because of our unusual process our product, is the ONLY natural mulch ever AWARDED A U.S. PATENT". It is packaged under the NoFloat label, and does exactly as the name implies. WHEN APPLIED ACCORDING TO THE DIRECTIONS PRINTED ON THE BAG, EVEN UNDER ADVERSE CONDITIONS, IT WILL NOT FLOAT AWAY. No other natural wood mulch performs like NoFloat. Our products are shipped to forty-six states, the Caribbean, South America, Central America, Saipan and Guam.
