Jules, your Cosplay Fairy Godmother here! Cosplay (having fun being dressed as characters from media) is a wonderful branch of escapism that embraces everyone, no exceptions and I love being a part of the community. When you get ready in your costume, I want you to feel like you just walked off the set of your favourite film/show and to help you channel all that character's best qualities into your own. Personally, I've over 20 years of being professionally creative under my belt and can't imagine doing anything other than make people happy with my skills anymore, it's very fulfilling!
