Cranbourne Primary School

Cranbourne Primary School is a small school in Melbourne's South-East. We provide a caring environment and leverage our small size to ensure every student is known, cared for and extended by our expert teaching team. We serve a highly diverse community and recent changes in leadership have led to a reimagining of our teaching approaches. This has already resulted in significant learning gains and our friendly and professional staff are all committed to the improvement journey. We used evidence based teaching approaches to ensure every student is on-track for learning. Our Response to Intervention approach ensures every child's learning is monitored and differentiated supports are put in place to help them succeed. This is underpinned by the Cranbourne Learning Guarantee, the key skills every child needs to know to access the following year's content. We have specialist intervention staff including intervention teachers, Speech Pathologists and trained education support staff. Our Literacy approach is based on the Science of Reading. Staff have been trained in this through the SOLAR Lab at La Trobe university. In the early years, students are taught a strong phonics curriculum using Little Learners Love Literacy, and evidence based, highly resources program. In later years, teachers use the Spelling Master program. Our instructional model is based on explicit instruction approaches and the gradual release of responsibility is at the heart of the model. We pride ourselves on our strong wellbeing approach. We are embedding our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) approach, centred on our PRIDE values (Persistence, Resilience, Independence, Discipline and Excellence). These are celebrated through our Power of Pride superheroes, displayed prominently around the school.
