Creativity Adda By Shikshantar

Shikshantar, a Jeevan Andolan (life movement) was founded to challenge the culture of schooling and institutions of thought-control. Today factory schooling and literacy programs are suppressing many diverse forms of human learning, intelligence and expression, as well as much needed organic processes towards just and harmonious social regeneration. Shikshantar is based in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. Our core team works in collaboration with local and trans-local partners through dynamic processes of participatory conceptualization. Creativity Adda, an initiative by Shikshantar Andolan, is based on the pedagogy of self-designed learning and draws inspiration from Gandhi’s Nai Taleem, Tagore’s Shantiniketan, democratic school movement, the unschooling movement/homeschooling and Swaraj University in Udaipur. The objective is to create a daily space for kids to nurture intrinsic motivation, creativity, self-discipline, teamwork, confidence, and to explore a range of practical skills and new career options. This helps them gain awareness of what their interests are and how they can constructively take them forward in the larger world.
