Crimarec Aps

CriMaRec Aps was created in 2018 with the purpose of creating a platform for further development, commercialization and upscaling of a hydroelectrochemical leaching approach. A process to recover Platinum Group Metals (PGM) from various sources of scrap material. Initial focus is recovery of Platinum, Palladium and Rhodium from End of Life (EoL) combustion engine catalysts (DOCs & TWCs) and catalysed particle filters (CDPFs & CGPFs). Recovery of PGM from Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEAs) and electrolysers from Power to X processes will be the future and long-term focus. The rationale of recovering PGM is, that these materials are regarded as scarce in availability and supply. They are increasingly expensive due to expected increased demand and emphasized with negative environmental consequences if mined from primary sources and not recovered and re-cycled at the end of the product life cycle. Recovery of PGM from Gasoline and diesel catalytic systems and re-use the materials to manufacture new energy systems, will facilitate circular economy and reduce negative environmental impact in the transition process. The hydro-electrochemical process is a batch-oriented supplement to existing pyro-metallurgical re-cycling methods by offering compatibility with additional material compositions and products.
