CryoTherapeutics has developed a novel, minimally invasive, catheter-based cryotherapy system (CTS) engineered to address an unmet need in cardiology: the treatment of coronary vulnerable plaque (VP), a leading cause of myocardial infarction (MI), that often leads to fatal events. CryoTherapeutics’ technology is designed to deliver localized cryotherapy to vulnerable plaques, cooling the plaques to temperatures between -10 to -20° C. The cryotherapy aims to stabilize the vulnerable plaques by reducing inflammation and increasing the fibrous cap thickness, hence lowering the risk of rupture and preventing future MI. Unlike traditional interventional technologies, this approach avoids implanting foreign materials or relying on long-term medical therapy alone.
