Custom Tradition

Custom Tradition is a fair-trade nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting indigenous women makers by promoting their handicrafts to a global market and providing them with the tools and resources needed to live and work sustainably within their communities. The artisan sector is the second largest economy in the world and provides many women with a means for living. However, due to linguistic and cultural barriers, lack of access to internet, and little to no recognition from local and national governments, the work that these women do is often rejected as "real" work. We address these issues by promoting the artisan traditions of all the women we partner with, giving customers a glimpse into their lives so that their work is respected and appreciated. We are currently partnering with families and collectives of women artisans in central states of Mexico. In the future we hope to expand our impact to more women artisans in Latin America and the Caribbean.
