Cuttime Productions
CutTime Productions (aka CutTime®) Americanizes classical music. These are concerts, music publications including new compositions, and services and methods designed to clue new listeners, even hostile ones, into classical and especially symphonic music. We work most often in partnership with concert presenters, orchestras, music festivals and music schools. Besides booking tours for our two ensembles, CutTime Players and CutTime Simfonica®, CutTime produced a landmark "club classical" series (Classical Revolution Detroit) in popular venues and summer street festivals for 12 years. In 2013 we won a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to expand this series in 2015. We won fiscal sponsorship with Fractured Atlas to seek ongoing project support. It all started back in 1993 when Detroit Symphony Orchestra bassist Rick Robinson (aka Mr. CutTime) began expanding the chamber music repertoire for classical double bassists with a transcription of Prokofiev's famous musical story "Peter and the Wolf.". Eventually we were able to publish over 70% of his 200+ arrangements, compositions and orchestrations. Download the catalog here. The ASCAP-registered name is CutTime Players Publishing.
