Dance Kids, Inc

Dance Kids of Monterey County was created to provide ongoing performance opportunities in dance and theater arts to the youth of Monterey County. Our mission is to strengthen character and positively influence children’s lives through the performing arts. Our goals include: Fostering in young people qualities which will enhance their growth into adulthood including: self esteem, aesthetic awareness, appreciation of diversity, multi-perceptual learning skills, group problem solving, perseverance and the ability to carry tasks to completion. To provide youth the opportunity for positive risk taking behaviors and productive use of leisure time. To offer young people opportunities to be involved in a quality arts program enabling them to strive for personal best, and to realize the benefit of working in a program that demands excellence and mastery. To enhance the community by providing an opportunity for members to learn of the beauty and cultural richness inherent in dance and theater. To offer a model for positive investment and involvement in community ventures through the arts. We offer this as a way of counteracting alienation among young people and directing their energies into projects that nurture their talents and civic pride.
