Day 180

On average, there are 180 school days in the year in the United States. That means we have limited time in a school year with students. We truly have no time to waste on underperforming or unused edtech products. After 20 years in educational technology, I have learned that many tech products are unused or underutilized. Initially, many products are brought in with good reasoning. When we dig deeper, turnover and initiative fatigue among the ranks enable so many licenses to be habitually renewed. There are districts that do an extraordinary job of managing technology, and I want to make sure every district can do this work well. The challenge is managing the scope of technology licenses and the entities that they are supposed to serve - paid licenses used by everyone, instructional tech used by some, tech designed for specialized populations, and products for district administrative needs. I launched Day 180 because I recognize the need to help administrators set a baseline of technology services. I have used this process with a local district partner and now I want to bring this knowledge to every district in the country.
