Executive Summary The business is situated in Mangaung district, known as the “City of Roses”, the business will contribute to the tourism within the city. This cut flower project is aimed at reducing unemployment and improving skill development thereby ensuring gainful economic participation of the community as well as contributing to tourism in response to the call by the President of the Country during the Job Summit for private businesses to contribute to job creation. It has been established through Statistics SA 2021 that the geographical area of the Mangaung metro has the total population size of 747 431. The unemployment rate in the area rest at 27.7 percent and that youth unemployment rest 37.2 percent with number of households number of 231 921. The statistics revealed that only 14.1 percent have received higher education and training; and that only 30.1 percent have reached matric. It is therefore evident that the high employment rate emanates from lack of skills development and training which has direct impact on gainful economic participation of this community. The business is further designed to help better and enhance previously disadvantaged women with the potential to grow into the corporate world of business specifically agriculture, particularly floriculture. The business will not only improve their working skills, but they would increase their active and gainful participation in the economic activities of the province thereby positively contributing to the growth of the economy and their living conditions as well as combating the socio-economic disparities.
