Local legend has it that during the American Revolution, when the Marquis de Lafayette landed his ship on the shores of what is now DeBordieu, he pronounced that is was so beautiful, it must be the "borderland of God"(D'abord Dieu). No one knows for sure if there is truth to the legend, but all agree that DeBordieu lives up to its name. Encompassing 2,700 acres of South Carolina's coastal Lowcountry, our six miles of secluded beaches and serene marshes will soothe your senses.
