Dehkada Library

Dehkada Library was established on April 05, 2018 by a group of volunteers. In Dari, the word “Dehkada” means village. The Dehkada Library is a library for the rural children of a remote district, Lal wa Sarjangal, in Ghor province, Afghanistan. Most children of this district do not have access to books and other resources. It is the first public library that provides such services free of charge for this rural area. The library aims to provide capacity building for youth, motivating and encouraging children who are not going to school, as youth capability and social responsibility only come from education. We, in Dehkada, are pursuing a bright future through cultural activities. Dehkada Library is designed to be a peaceful reading environment, where everyone can freely access books. We work closely with the community in order to promote a culture of reading at Lal wa Sarjangal district, Ghor.
