DeKalb Medical officially became a part of the Emory Healthcare system on September 1, 2018. As part of the integration, DeKalb Medical’s hospital on North Decatur Road is now named Emory Decatur Hospital; DeKalb Medical Hillandale is now Emory Hillandale Hospital; and DeKalb Medical Long-Term Acute Care at Downtown Decatur is named Emory Long-Term Acute Care. This acquisition brings together the best of both worlds – the discovery and innovation of an academic medical center together with a deeply rooted connection to the community. DeKalb Medical had a rich heritage of providing exceptional care, and Emory Healthcare is pleased to replace our clinical teams with theirs. With the addition of DeKalb Medical’s three facilities and physicians, patients now have access to even more physicians and locations to receive care. Former DeKalb Medical information With more than 800 doctors skilled in 55 medical specialties, DeKalb Medical combines cutting-edge technology with compassion to effectively diagnose and treat our patients. A leader in cancer, heart attack treatment and orthopedics, the DeKalb Medical system has been growing with metro-Atlanta’s medical needs for 50 years. The 627-bed not-for-profit health system includes DeKalb Medical at North Decatur (451 beds), DeKalb Medical Long Term Acute Care at Downtown Decatur (76 beds), DeKalb Medical at Hillandale (100 beds) and the DeKalb Medical Physicians Group.
