I am the author of a book recently released,"A Year of Remembrances - A Love Story." It was published by Jack Bacon & Company. I started taking notes the day my husband of 32 years died suddenly. These notes then became the essence of my book. Our love affair started as a blind date over the phone and took us from New York City to Houston to Truckee. My book is a story of a vibrant and adoring marriage, the deep sorrow of unexpected loss and my determination and will as I moved forward to build a new life without him. My professional career included a brief tenure in the Marketing Department of Procter & Gamble before moving to New York City where I found employment at The Wool Bureau. My last position with them was Promotion Director of Women's Apparel. After my marriage and move to Houston, I held positions in the areas of retailing, advertising, marketing and public relations. After retiring to Truckee, CA, I found my true passion - breeding and showing my beloved longhaired standard dachshunds. I won the variety at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club with a dachshund I bred and showed. This was the catalyst to inspire me to become an AKC dog judge. I currently judge the Hound Group, Junior Showmanship, Miscellaneous Class and Best in Show. My husband's professional career started and ended with the Shell Oil Company. After retiring, he became active in civic work and public office. His public service included Director and board president of the Truckee Land Trust, Chair of the Tahoe Truckee Airport Community Advisory Team and Mayor of the Town of Truckee in 1996 and 2001. My story includes courtship, love, loss, grief, survival, local town politics, Harleys, dog shows, dogs and judging.
