Diriyah Biennale Foundation

Established in 2020, and inspired by Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage, its artists, and makers, the Diriyah Biennale Foundation (DBF) strives to nurture creative expression and instill appreciation for the transformative power of the arts. As a central part of its mission, the Foundation stages two world-class biennales in contemporary and Islamic arts, complemented by year-round educational programs focused on engaging public audiences. The Foundation’s Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale was the first-of-its-kind in the Kingdom, hosted in the JAX District of Diriyah. It was followed by the inaugural edition of the Islamic Arts Biennale, the first-of-its-kind in the world, interweaving contemporary works and never-before-seen historic artifacts. The event was held at the Aga Khan Award-winning Western Hajj Terminal of the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. تأسست مؤسسة بينالي الدرعية عام 2020، واستلهمت رؤيتها من الإرث الثقافي الغني للمملكة العربية السعودية، ومن فنانيها ومبدعيها. تسعى المؤسسة إلى رعاية الإبداع الفني وترسيخ الوعي بقوة الفنون وقدرتها على إحداث التحولات. وفي صميم رسالتها، تنظم المؤسسة بيناليين عالميين، أحدهما للفن المعاصر والآخر للفنون الإسلامية، إلى جانب برامج تعليمية متواصلة على مدار العام تهدف إلى إشراك الجمهور وتعزيز تفاعله. شهدت المؤسسة احتضان بينالي الدرعية للفن المعاصر، الذي يعد الأول من نوعه في المملكة، وذلك في حي جاكس بالدرعية. تلا ذلك إطلاق الدورة الافتتاحية من بينالي الفنون الإسلامية، الأول من نوعه على الصعيد العالمي، حيث جمع بين أعمال فنية معاصرة وقطع أثرية تاريخية نادرة عُرضت لأول مرة. وقد أقيم الحدث في صالة الحجاج الغربية بمطار الملك عبدالعزيز الدولي في جدة، الحائزة على جائزة الآغا خان للعمارة.
