Hood Industries’ most recent distribution acquisition brought aboard Distributor Service Inc.(DSI), a company with deep roots and a proud family legacy in the wholesale building materials industry. Founded in 1968, DSI began as a family-owned business focused on serving the woodworking and cabinetmaking trades. From the start, it built a reputation for offering quality products backed by knowledgeable service—earning the trust of craftsmen across the Midwest. Over the decades, DSI expanded into a leading distributor of hardwood plywood, thermally fused laminates, industrial panel products, and architectural solutions. Its catalog grew to include over 150 product lines from top manufacturers around the world. In 1995, DSI deepened its expertise by partnering with M.L. Campbell and establishing in-house Color Studios, Mix Rooms, and finishing support teams at each location. The company also became a regional exclusive source for premium high-pressure laminate brands including Formica, Nevamar, Panolam, and Pionite. With multiple warehouses and a fleet of company-owned trucks, DSI became a one-stop shop for decorative surfaces, substrate panels, finishing systems, and shop supplies—delivered with next-day reliability and a personal touch. Throughout its growth, DSI remained committed to the same family values and customer-first mindset that defined it from the beginning.
