Ditmas Children’s isn’t built on the traditional post-acute care model. Instead, it was designed around the needs of children—what they need to grow, flourish, and simply be happy. Only then did we integrate the specialized medical care required for children with complex conditions. Ditmas Children’s is more than a pediatric nursing facility, more than a certified ventilator unit, more than a center for cerebral care. It’s a home—one with extraordinary adaptations to meet the needs of our extraordinary children. Each child receives comprehensive medical and social care tailored to their unique needs. A toddler’s world looks very different from that of a pre-teen, so our “standard procedure” is to treat every child as an individual. Many of our residents require multidisciplinary pediatric specialists in pulmonology, internal medicine, behavioral health, orthopedics, and more. The care they receive at Ditmas is on par with top medical centers—delivered in the safety and comfort of their own rooms. To create a truly home-like experience, we accept only 20 children at a time. Each has a warm, inviting bedroom with space for toys, hobbies, and even sleepovers. Our backyard play area and dedicated K-12 classrooms ensure that every child can learn and play while receiving the care they need. Our team is what makes Ditmas Children’s exceptional.
