Diverso is a fund manager that invests in European SMEs whose technology is suitable for commercialization in China. For the companies that we decide to invest in, China will typically be their largest potential market but one which they are not currently present in. The investment allows the company to build up its internal capacity to meet the demands of customers in China. This will typically involve a certain amount of product localization as well as adding teams to service new customers. We have had a presence in China now for 8 years, focusing exclusively on technologies that are suitable for commercialization in industrial technology sectors here. We have an extensive network among policy makers and corporates in the following sectors – energy, materials, chemicals and machinery. By pre-selecting technologies which Chinese companies want and the government supports, we are able to significantly reduce investment and business risk whilst creating value in the process.
