DKT International is a global not-for-profit organization based in Washington DC and is one of the largest providers of family planning, HIV/AIDS prevention, and safe abortion products and services. DKT combines private-sector marketing techniques, cutting-edge technologies, and creative advertising to ensure women and men have the products, knowledge, and services they need when required. DKT has offices in 28 countries and with a sales presence in over 90 markets. While a non-governmental international organization (INGO), DKT operates like a social marketing enterprise. DKT India was established in 1992 to complement the Indian government’s work in family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention. Over the past 32 years, the organization has grown into one of the largest Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) private providers in the country and is recognized as a strong maker of “Couple Year Protections” (CYPs) against unwanted pregnancies. In the early years of the program, DKT India focused primarily on condom and oral contraceptive promotion. Since 2001, DKT has broadened its portfolio of family planning and maternal health products to include IUDs, an LNG-IUS product, three-month injectables, emergency contraception, and prenatal supplements. Since 2014, DKT India has relied on the services of DKT Healthcare India Private Ltd, an affiliate of DKT International Inc, USA. to ensure a strong commercial and service presence with thousands of pharmacy retailers and gynecological practices visited daily across India.
